High and extra high voltage systems

The transmission of electricity in high voltage (HV: 36–150 kV) and extra-high voltage (EHV: 220–500 kV) networks is one of the most important technological challenges in the energy industry. This requires the use of the most advanced cable systems, which must guarantee reliability, safety and cost-effectiveness. Due to the key importance of these networks for the economy, HV and EHV systems are subject to detailed regulatory standards that ensure their long-term reliability and high quality over years of operation.

Application of HV and EWN cables

Cables designed for HV and EWN systems are mainly used in the transmission of electricity over long distances, especially in critical infrastructure, such as power plants, large industrial facilities or in regions where it is important to limit the impact of infrastructure on the natural environment. Their use allows the creation of underground installations, which helps to minimize the visibility of the network and reduce the impact on the landscape.

TELE-FONIKA Kable is one of the leaders in the production of HV and EWN cable systems, offering cables with cross-sections up to 3000 mm² and voltage up to 500 kV, characterized by high quality and reliability, which guarantees the continuity of energy supply in demanding conditions.

XLPE Technology in Cable Production

XLPE Technology in Cable Production

Cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) is a key material used in high-voltage cables. Thanks to the cross-linking process of polyethylene, these materials are characterized by excellent electrical properties and better mechanical properties, which allows for a wider use of cables in various temperature conditions. XLPE technology is a breakthrough in the design of cable systems with voltages up to 500 kV, enabling their efficient transmission of energy with a minimum degree of assembly complexity.

Innovative Temperature Monitoring Systems

Innovative Temperature Monitoring Systems

HV cables can work with continuous cable temperature measurement systems (DTS). The use of optical fiber in the cable allows for monitoring and recording of the temperature profile, which increases the safety and reliability of the entire power system.

Production processes and specialist research facilities

Production processes and specialist research facilities

The production of HV and EWN cables at the Bydgoszcz plant, TFKable Group uses advanced technologies that ensure high quality and reliability of products. Each stage of production, from insulation extrusion to quality tests, is strictly controlled, which guarantees compliance with international standards and norms.

High and Extra-High Voltage Laboratory

High and Extra-High Voltage Laboratory

The High and Extra-High Voltage Laboratory in Bydgoszcz is equipped with three Faraday cages for conducting routine tests, type tests of cables, and cable system tests. The laboratory’s equipment includes, among others, high-voltage (AC) test systems with a maximum level of 1.0 MV, a high-voltage (DC) test system with a maximum level of 1.2 MV, impulse voltage generators (LI / SI) with a maximum level of 2.4 MV, and induction heating systems up to 5 kA.

The Bydgoszcz plant also has two dedicated test fields for conducting qualification tests of high-voltage cable systems, equipped with alternating current (AC) test systems with maximum levels of 500 kV and 750 kV, and induction heating systems up to 5000 A.

These state-of-the-art laboratories enable the execution of routine tests as well as full qualification tests for cables up to 500 kV. The laboratory also carries out development testing of HVDC cable prototypes and EHVAC cables with optimized design and production guidelines.
